About Verda

Verda Inc. develops imperceptible watermarking for AI-generated image, audio and video, embedding durable, machine-readable provenance that is free for anyone to verify.

When a model generates an image, a voice or a video, Verda embeds a mark inside the signal itself rather than alongside it in metadata. The mark survives the things that normally destroy provenance — re-encoding, compression, cropping, screenshots, a trip through a phone network — and anyone can check it for free, without an account and without asking us for permission.

One watermark, three signals. Each medium gets an encoder built for how that medium is actually stored and transmitted, and all three resolve through the same registry.

• Monet — image, embedded across the pixel signal.
• Bach — audio, embedded across the waveform, designed to survive telephony codecs and re-recording.
• Pompeii — video, embedded per frame and across time.

Verification is free and unlimited. That is deliberate: a provenance signal that costs money to check is not a provenance signal, and both the EU Code of Practice and California SB 942 expect detection to be publicly available.

Verda's watermarking algorithms are registered on the C2PA soft-binding algorithm list, the public registry the C2PA specification uses to identify watermarking and fingerprinting schemes — covering image, audio and video.

Verda reads and writes signed C2PA manifests, and embeds the watermark alongside them. The two layers back each other up: the manifest carries rich, signed provenance while it survives, and the watermark keeps the provenance recoverable once the manifest has been stripped, which is the normal outcome of a re-upload to most platforms.

EU AI Act Article 50(2) requires AI-generated media to be marked in a machine-readable way and to be detectable as artificially generated. California SB 942 additionally requires a latent disclosure that resolves to the provider, the system and version, the time of generation and a unique identifier. India's IT Rules require labelling of synthetically generated information.

Verda is designed to meet the marking and detection duties in those rules and to carry the SB 942 disclosure fields. It is worth being precise about one thing: Article 50 does not require identity. Binding a mark to a KYC-verified organisation or creator is something Verda offers because it is useful against fraud and impersonation — not because the EU mandates it.
